At the end of April, I spent a few days time in Warsaw attending the EUCOM/SHAPE international legal conference. The theme this year was ‘The Legal Aspects of the National Security Response to Russian Aggression’. The presentations and panels offered a good mix between legal and policy perspectives on the subject. In fact, some of the most memorable presentations dealt with the diplomatic and policy implications of Russia’s actions. My own presentation explored the topic of ‘Lawfare on the Home Front’, following hot on the heels of an excellent update on lawfare by Professor Charlie Dunlap. It was a great pleasure to catch up with friends from the NATO community also to get to know some of our American colleagues.
