MLLWR Panel in Rhodes

I had the pleasure of attending the Conference on Military Jurisdiction hosted by the International Society for Military Law and the Law of War between 28 September and 2 October 2011 in Rhodes.

The Conference featured a highly successful panel convened by the Military Law and the Law of War Review on the topic of the role and responsibility of legal advisors in the armed forces. We obtained some fascinating insights into the work of military legal advisors by Thomas Randall (Chief Legal Advisor, SHAPE), Ian Henderson (Wing Commander, Royal Australian Air Force) and Dr Marten Zwanenburg (Legal Advisor, Ministry of Defence, The Netherlands). Their papers will be published later in a forthcoming issue of the Review and are well worth reading.

The conference has also provided us with an excellent opportunity to formally launch the Review’s new website, which is now available at http://mllwr.org/. The website and the panel are just some of the ways in which we are celebrating the Review’s 50th anniversary this year.
